Former US President Donald Trump received a hero’s welcome at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday, in his first public appearance since Saturday's assassination attempt during a campaign rally.
Footage shows him wearing a bandage on his ear, but smiling and waving to his supporters, before walking in and sitting near his newly-announced running mate JD Vance and journalist Tucker Carlson.
Thousands of Republicans stood and cheered him as the announcer stated: "[he showed his courage, his] finest against somebody who tried to kill him. You will not take this man down."
Trump and JD Vance were then formally nominated by the RNC. Both will address the convention later this week.
Trump escaped with minor injuries after shots were fired during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday. The former president was seen with blood on his face after a bullet grazed his ear, as well as raising his fist to the crowd and shouting 'fight' as the secret service moved him to the motorcade.
The gunman, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot dead by Secret Service agents at the scene. It was reported that he was a registered Republican, but had also donated $15 to a Democrat-aligned political action committee the day Joe Biden began his presidency. His motive remains unknown.
One spectator, 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief, was also killed in the shooting and two others were wounded.
