Syrian army soldiers entered the town of al-Yadudah, near the southwestern city of Daraa, on Tuesday, implementing the terms of an agreement signed with town leaders two days ago.
Soldiers and vehicles could be seen deploying in al-Yadudah’s farms and villages, as they followed the terms of the deal, which was brokered by Russia.
Syrian government forces also conducted searches of the houses in the area, accompanied by several residents.
At the same time, many opposition militants started handing over their weapons to the army at a local school after settling issues with the government.
"Today we joined the security team to search some houses. They respected people's needs, as we witnessed,” one al-Yadudah resident said.
The government reached an amnesty agreement with town leaders two days ago for the handover of weapons and the return of government control after violent clashes erupted last month.
