Young Hongkongers gathered outside Shatin Law Courts Building to show their outrage as the trial against an 18-year-old protester, shot by police in Tuesday protests, kicked off on Thursday.
Protesters circled the courthouse chanting slogans demanding democratic rights and condemning police brutality.
"Just after two days, they have to bring the kid to the court, and I mean, this is just unreasonable," said a protester.
The young protester, still undergoing treatment at the hospital, was charged with police assault and rioting only two days after being shot by an officer in his chest amid Tuesday clashes. Tsang Chi-kin was shot in his left lung, just three centimeters from his heart.
