Description

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered at Al-Keesh Square in Benghazi on Sunday to protest against Turkish military presence in the country and the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA).

Protesters rallied in large crowds, while holding flags and banners reading "No to Turkish intervention" and "Not for colonization."

The rally came two days after an official visit to Tripoli of a Turkish delegation led by Defence Minister Hulusi Akar.

The Turkish officials held a meeting with the head of the Government of National Accord Fayez al-Sarraj and inspected military facilities as part of a cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The meeting took place after several areas, including the Greater Tripoli Region, were wrestled back from Libyan National Army (LNA) forces led by Khalifa Haftar. His troops left the region after a 14-month-long offensive, on June 5.
