Description

People on London's streets shared their "relief" on Sunday morning after Democratic candidate Joe Biden emerged victorious in the 2020 US presidential elections.

Front covers featuring images of a victorious Biden filled every news stand, while Londoners seemed united in their happiness at the result.

"I feel relief. I feel jubilation. I cried yesterday in the street. I'm just so happy that it's over. There's obviously a lot of work to do still for America. But I feel like right now everyone deserves a day of joy and celebration," said Talia, originally from Washington DC.

"I'm just breathing a sigh of relief, to be honest, it feels like we had a very, very tough four years, a bit of a nightmare, but this is very much the start of something new," said Jesse, a Londoner.

On Saturday, the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan congratulated the "well-deserved win" of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris with a Twitter post, saying, "London looks forward to working with you - it's time to get back to building bridges, not walls."
