Description

Anti-government demonstrators were seen trying to get to the presidential palace in Baabda which resulted in clashes with the military which reportedly fired rubber bullets and live rounds at the crowds, Saturday.

Counter-protesters also staged a rally in support of the government, with one of the demonstrators saying, "The aim of today's demo is that we went out to say that we are with President Michel Aoun. Since he took office, he has been fighting corruption."

On August 4, the Beirut port was rocked by two explosions that killed at least 190 people, injured 6,500, and displaced over 300,000. The blasts triggered violent protests which forced the previous cabinet to resign.
