Die Linke (The Left) candidate Janine Wissler expressed disappointment at her party's performance in the German federal elections during an election event at party offices in Berlin on Sunday.
"We have had significant losses, we all wanted a better result," she said after exit polls showed around five percent for her party.
"One thing is clear, Die Linke is needed in this country and not for itself, but for all the people who are so little heard," she added.
Any less than five percent would see Die Linke lose its place in the German parliament.
