First Lady Melania Trump released a farewell video on social media on Monday as she prepares to leave the White House.

"It has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as First Lady of the United States. I have been inspired by incredible Americans across our country who lift up our communities through their kindness and courage, goodness and grace," opened Melania Trump.

The Trumps have declined the invite the Biden family to the White House ahead of the inauguration as has always been traditionally done by Presidents in the past.

"It has been an honour to the present American people abroad. I treasure, each of my experiences, and the inspiring people I have met along the way. As I say farewell to my role as First Lady, it is my sincere hope that every American will do their part to teach our children, what it means to be best," Melania went on to say.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are expected to be officially inaugurated on Wednesday, in a scaled-down ceremony, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and in light of the violent storming of the Capitol.
