Description

Red Crescent rescue teams recovered the bodies of four migrants who drowned in the Mediterranean, from the Sabratha beach, on Thursday.

Footage showed members of the Red Crescent removing the bodies from the beach after placing them inside black bags.

"The police were informed two days ago about the bodies of the migrants that were found on the beach. The police took the necessary procedures, and the forensic doctor examined the bodies, and then it was our turn as the Red Crescent to recover the bodies," said one of the Red Crescent team members.

"The problem is that these incidents have been going on since 2014 or 2013, and we have been recovering the bodies since then, and we hope to find a solution to this problem at the state level, or at the level of the relevant authorities," he added.

Last Wednesday, at least 75 migrants drowned off the Libyan coast, according to the International Organization for Migration, bringing the death toll of migrants in the Mediterranean to 1,300 people since the beginning of this year.
