Later on Saturday, LNA forces reportedly launched rockets on Tripoli's main airport of Mitiga, damaging infrastructure and a number of passenger jets.
The attacks come a week after Haftar declared "void" a 2015 UN-brokered deal that produced the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli, and announced the LNA was to rule the country by popular mandate.
Following the ousting of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, the country has been split into areas controlled by the GNA in Tripoli and the northwest, and territories held by eastern-based LNA in Benghazi lead by Khalifa Haftar.
Recently, the UN has appealed to both sides to stop fighting and allow humanitarian workers to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
