Hundreds of supporters of Colombia's President Gustavo Petro took to the streets in Bogota on Wednesday to support the country's leader amid election campaign probe.
Footage features demonstrators marching with flags, banners and placards , reading: 'The people speak at the polls, democracy is respected / No to the soft coup d'etat!', 'No to the coup / In defense of life, health and freedom', among others.
"I am marching to defend democracy, to defend our president and all government programmes from the change he promised us," one of the protesters said.
Another respondent mentioned that she has participated in the march to 'support the first popularly elected president' in Colombia who 'has fought for social justice'. "We are tired of so much injustice. The people for the people!" the woman added.
The marches in support of President Gustavo Petro were organised by the workers' and teachers' unions, as he faces an election campaign investigation after election officials voted to launch an investigation into Petro's spending during his historic 2022 campaign.
