The Kazakh and Russian Foreign Ministers, Murat Nurtleu and Sergei Lavrov, greeted each other ahead of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Almaty on Friday.

The footage shows diplomats shaking hands and posing for photographs, before sitting at a round table with other ministers.

"Did you have a chance to rest?" Nurtleu can be heard asking his Russian counterpart.

Lavrov arrived in Almaty on Friday. According to the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, the discussions include "current issues of international and regional security, as well as the implementation of measures to meet the priorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan during its chairmanship of the CSTO."

The CSTO comprises Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
