Locals reacted to a reported UAV strike in Primorsko-Akhtarsk on Friday, which governor Veniamin Kondratiev claimed had killed a six-year-old girl and left five others in need of hospitalisation.

"We found that the windows on the balcony were broken, the windows in the kitchen were broken. A shockwave hit us, we stopped hearing anything," said Svetlana.

Footage shows broken windows, destroyed balconies and a damaged part of the apartment building’s roof. The video also captures survivors in a temporary accommodation centre.

Svetlana added that residents began a 'mass evacuation', when a piece of shrapnel hit one of the vehicles.

"As I understand it, at the moment when they were moving, maybe some shrapnel hit them. They said that there were three people in the car. If I’m not mistaken, the injured one, a child, died," she explained.

Kondratiev also reported that all the injured were now 'receiving the necessary medical care'.

"A temporary accommodation centre has been prepared for everyone who will need it. In addition, the work of the power substation, which supplies a significant part of the city, has been disrupted. Repair and restoration work is underway," he added.

The Russian Defence Ministry's press service also said on Friday that 14 UAVs travelling over Krasnodar region had been 'eliminated' by air defence systems over the previous night.

At time of publication, the Ukrainian side had not commented on the strike on Primorsko-Akhtarsk, but Kiev has repeatedly and strongly denied targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure during the ongoing conflict.

Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.

Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
