    Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was seen travelling into Red Square and reporting to President Vladimir Putin at the start of the huge Victory Day parade marking the 79th anniversary of the end of World War II.

    Footage captured on Thursday features a guard of honour bringing the Russian flag and the Victory banner, with Shoigu saluting and addressing Putin. The video also shows the Russian leader greeting veterans.

    "Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, the troops of the Moscow garrison are ready for the Victory Parade," Shoigu can be heard saying.

    Over 9,000 servicemen and 70 pieces of military hardware will take part in the parade this year.
