Russia launched an Angara-1.2 carrier rocket from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region on Tuesday, carrying a spacecraft from the country's defence ministry.

Footage shows the carrier vehicle being transported and placed on the launch pad, before blasting off into space.

"The rocket carrier lifted off as planned. The spacecraft were successfully delivered to the target orbit," the ministry’s statement read.

The department added that the spacecraft’s onboard systems were operating normally and the Russian Aerospace Forces had a 'stable telemetry connection' with them.
