The aftermath of the explosion of a truck carrying 60 tons of liquified natural gas in Ulaanbaatar was captured by drone on Wednesday.

Exclusive footage shows the site of the explosion in a residential district, a fire-damaged multi-story apartment building, charred tarmac and the wreckage of burnt-out cars, as well as emergency services working on site.

The Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that the blast was caused by the truck colliding with a passenger vehicle at 1:05 local time (17:05 GMT).

A fire broke out at the site, spreading to a nearby residential building. The agency added that six people, including three firefighters, had been killed, with 14 others injured and taken to hospitals for medical treatment. In addition, 30 vehicles were damaged by the fire.

At time of publication, media reports stated that the fire had been extinguished, with police and forensic investigation teams working on the site.
