The Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) and the Interior Ministry of the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Civil Defence and Protection in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

"I am honoured to be in the hospitable United Arab Emirates today and to have this opportunity to discuss with you the prospects of our co-operation," Kurenkov said. "The signing of the memorandum will take it to the next level."
According to the EMERCOM’s press service, the parties agreed to assist each other in emergency recovery and discussed bilateral co-operation within the International Civil Defence Organisation (ICDO) and BRICS.
Al Nahyan reportedly said that the implementation of the initiatives was in the common interest and had the potential for further development. Kurenkov arrived in the UAE on Sunday for a two-day working visit. Earlier, he visited the UAE Civil Defence Academy.
