Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitri Peskov said that Moscow was considering a potential agreement for a renewed Black Sea Grain Initiative, as proposed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a press call in Moscow on Friday.
"An unofficial draft document regarding a possible discussion, another potential attempt in the future was received from the Turkish side. This document is now under study by our competent agencies and specialists," the speaker said, adding that President Vladimir Putin would also receive the experts’ evaluation promptly.
"The previous experience was not so successful. And what they were supposed to do for us was not done. So the agreement was signed, but it turned out to be no deal," Peskov added.
The original Black Sea grain deal allowed for the export of both Ukrainian grain and Russian food and fertilisers, although Moscow repeatedly insisted the latter part of the deal was not being implemented. It lasted from July 22 2022 until July 17, 2023, ending when no new agreement was reached.
