Description

The Rosatom state corporation reported on Monday that the assembly of the reactor for unit one of the Rooppur nuclear power plant (NPP) in Bangladesh's Pabna District had been completed.

Footage shows specialists assembling the reactor at the site.

Rosatom’s press services said that the engineers had installed internally mounted devices, a block of containment tubes and the upper unit, sensors of the commissioning measurement system, and loaded simulators of fuel assemblies. The next stage of work covers hydraulic testing to check the performance of the reactor plant equipment.

In November 2011, Russia and Bangladesh signed an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Rooppur facility. The general contract for the construction of the plant was signed in December 2015, and construction began in 2017.

The Rooppur NPP is equipped with two reactors totalling 2,400 megawatts, and is built according to a Russian design, 160 km from Dhaka.
