Description

Giant panda cub Katyusha enjoyed frolicking with her mother in the water of their enclosure at Moscow Zoo on Wednesday.

The footage shows cub Katyusha and mother Dindin playing in an outdoor pool to the delight of zoo visitors.

'My mum was right when she said that it's warm, fun and the outside pool has clean water,' the zoo’s general director Svetlana Akulova commented on Katusha’s Telegram channel on her behalf.

Born in August last year, Katyusha was named after the popular Russian folk song, following a public vote on Moscow's online portal for residents.

Her parents, Dindin and Ruyi, arrived in Moscow from Beijing in 2019. They live in the 'Chinese Fauna' pavilion at Moscow Zoo, which was inaugurated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping.

Native to China, giant pandas are protected by a worldwide conservation programme. Dindin and Ruyi are part of an initiative aimed at preserving this endangered species.
