Delegations from the United Arab Emirates and Russia's Chechnya Republic presented a joint environmental programme at the World Youth Festival on Saturday.
Eco-activist Gaya al-Ahbabi from the UAE said the project encourages young people to get involved in the eco-movement and is organised with the help of Khadijat Kadyrova, deputy head of the Chechen President's administration.
"This project, which is called Eco-Challenge, is a competition that was made by Khadijat Kadyrova and me as an ambassador for this competition. It is a competition to make youth from all around the world to participate in our movement," al-Ahbabi said.
The eco-activist added that her mission and project garnered a lot of support for youth and children.
"My mission was accomplished successfully. We were able to achieve a really high advocating for youth and children as well, while we actually got a huge amount of [participants]. And the UAE [International Forum] COP28 was the first sculpture with a huge amount of youth participation and child participation," Gaya al-Ahbabi concluded.
The World Youth Festival takes place from 1-7 March 2024, to develop international youth co-operation and to bring together 20,000 young people. The regional programme will take place from 10-17 March 2024, during which the participants will visit 30 Russian cities.
