The female Amur leopard cub was born in the zoo on July 25, 2024. The cub's father, Dava, is from Moscow, while Hillary was born and raised in Novosibirsk.
The zoo's press service noted that the mum was particularly sensitive to any disturbances, hiding her cub at the first sign of trouble. However, she is also feeding her cub milk and gradually introducing her to adult food.
The organisation added that the cub was the only one born in both Russian and European zoos in 2024.
The population of the critically endangered Amur leopard in the early 2000s was at just 35. It increased to 129 in Russia as of April 2024, as a result of conservation efforts.
