Thousands of demonstrators from across the country marched in London on Saturday, demanding climate justice at the United Nations climate summit COP27. The rally began in front of Shell Centre, as seen in the footage.
"The first step is to make polluters pay. So the big companies, that's why we are meeting here outside the Shell Centre. And we basically need to ask them, make them pay for all the profits that they are making and to contribute to a lost and damage fund," said Olivia, a protester.
Footage shows protesters holding banners reading 'End fuel poverty, insulate homes now', 'We are all endangered', and 'We just need a chance'.
"The next step is that we in the West, those of us who are benefiting, we have to change our lifestyles, and if that means that we are inconvenient than so be it. We have been able to do it, haven't we? With the fact that we got to save energy because of the war in Ukraine, people are putting on more clothes, people are turning off their heating. So why can't we do that to save the planet?," another protester Sarah said.
