Italy became the first finalist in the Euro 2020 competition, when it beat Spain on Tuesday evening. Following the game, Italian head coach Roberto Mancini discussed the difficulty of facing Spain and the upcoming final, in the early hours of Wednesday.

"It has been a pleasure to give this amazing night to all Italians," he said. "We have not yet done everything we need to do. We still have one step to go."

Mancini praised the Spanish team, saying, "we knew it was going to be a very difficult match because, in terms of ball possession, Spain are the best around."

He added, "penalties are a lottery but I would like to tip my hat off to Spain because they really were a wonderful team."

Chiesa scored first for the Azzurri in the 59th minute, but Morata evened the score in the 79th, forcing an extra 30 minutes. As neither team was able to score again, the match ended with penalty shots where Italy's Jorginho scored in the fifth shot, earning his team the win.
