Fans welcomed athletes arriving in Oslo, Monday, after Norway's Winter team broke the gold medal record at the Beijing Olympics.
Olympians Therese Johaug, Johannes Thingnes and Fabian Wilkens Solheim commented on their achievement at the airport. "The biggest day is today after landing at Norwegian soil," said Johaug.
"This is my twentieth championship with an individual medal in a row," said Johannes Thingnes.
The athletes hugged relatives and posed with their medals for press photographers and supporters.
The Norwegian Olympic team had won 16 gold medals in Beijing, more than any other country at the Winter Games. The nation's recipe for success was considered to be, among other things, the outstanding promotion of young talent, with 93 per cent of children being active in sports in 2018.
