City Hall reversed the decision on Sunday evening and said the popular venues will remain open for the rest of the season.
The initial decision to terminate the rinks’ contract was taken by de Blasio in response to the attack on the US Capitol on January 6.
The mayor’s press secretary, Bill Neidhardt, said in a statement on Sunday that “New York City kids deserve all the time on the ice they can get this year.” He highlighted however that the city “will not be doing business with the Trump Organization going forward.”
