"We have a choice to make, as Americans. January 6th can either mark the end of our democracy or the beginning of our march towards the expansion of rights and justice and equity and fairness for all, and I choose the latter," said Texas representative Veronica Escobar.

The protest took place on the same day the US Congress was formally certifying the electoral college votes, confirming Joe Biden as the next President of the United States.
