Protesters stormed the headquarters of French luxury conglomerate LVMH in Paris on Thursday.

Footage shows dozens of people carrying lit red flares as they forced their way into the building. Hundreds are seen marching on the streets, with riot police chasing some of the demonstrators.

The fashion giant enjoyed a 17 percent increase in sales during the first quarter of the year, with its share price reaching a record high on Thursday. According to local reports, many of those involved in the action at LVMH were from anti-capitalist groups.

The action took place amid continuing mass demonstrations against pension reforms, which raised the retirement age from 62 to 64.

President Emmanuel Macron’s government argued the changes were needed to keep the system sustainable, after forcing them through without a vote in the National Assembly.

A decision on the legality of the reforms is expected from the Constitutional Court on Friday.
