Former Bolivian President Evo Morales said he would run in the upcoming May 3 Bolivian presidential election "with more force and energy" after he was ousted in November. The three-time president was speaking in front of thousands of supporters at a rally for his party Movement for Socialism (MAS) in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires on Wednesday.

"Now that they provoked me, now that they expelled me, and they do not want me to return to Bolivia, I want to tell you here with more force and with more energy I will continue doing politics to defeat the Bolivian right," he said. "We will return to the government not with weapons like the right, not with bullets like the fascist racists."

Morales, who fled Bolivia in November 2019 after resigning as Bolivian President, maintains he won the October presidential elections and called for the nationalisation of the lithium industry and more collaboration between South American states.

"Argentina has lithium reserves, Chile as well, how nice it would be three South American countries industrialising our lithium as a population and as a state we can decide the price of lithium for everyone," he said.

Morales fled Bolivia to Mexico in November under pressure from the armed forces following unrest over alleged irregularities in the election. After a few weeks in Mexico, he was granted asylum in Argentina. He is now leading his MAS party in the campaign for Bolivia's May 3, 2020 elections.
