American born Chinese skier Eileen Gu who picked up her second medal on Tuesday at this year's Winter Olympics was seen advertised throughout Beijing's busy shopping district, as local investors cash in on the teenage star’s rising popularity.

The 18-year-old freestyle skier, who won silver in the woman's Freeski slopestyle on Tuesday morning, was a centrepiece of shop windows, Olympic showrooms and billboards in Beijing's Wangfujing district.

Gu is believed to have up to 30 contracts signed with both Chinese and international brands, including some of China's biggest companies, among them Bank of China and China Mobile. The athlete’s model career also spans sponsorship deals with fashion labels like Victoria's Secret, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co.

Born in San Francisco to a Chinese mother and American father, Gu began competing for China in 2019, having previously represented the United States at the 2018-2019 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup.
