Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny on Monday dropped two lawsuits against the prison where he is being held in the Vladimir region.

The Petushinski district court approved Navalny’s request to withdraw cases of censoring his newspapers and withholding books from him.

"It is important to me that the process of reconciliation reached the point where we have legally defined that there is no censorship and newspapers are delivered. That is why I think that there is no point to prolong this process and would like to withdraw the case,” Navalny commented via video link.

“Books are given to me and the books are given in normal order now, so thank you very much. […] I would like to reconcile and withdraw the case. Hooray! Reading is power, knowledge is power, books are important,” the activist added.

Navalny was sentenced to three and a half years in a penal colony for violating probation terms in February. He has denied the charges.
