French far-right candidate Eric Zemmour voted in the first round of the presidential polls in Paris on Sunday.

The former TV pundit and ‘Reconquete’leader cast his ballot in the capital this morning after polls opened in mainland France at 08:00 am local time (06:00 GMT).

Before entering the presidential race, Zemmour was known for railing against Islam, migrants and feminism in his columns in the conservative newspaper "Le Figaro" and above all in his own television programme.

The French vote in the first round of the presidential election on Sunday and have to choose from 12 candidates, including current President Emmanuel Macron, far-right candidates Marine Le Pen and Eric Zemmour, and leftist Jean-Luc Melenchon. The two candidates who won the first round advance to the second round, scheduled for April 24.
