“Teslas usually come into the country pre-sold. These cars aren’t, they’re sitting here waiting for buyers,” he told a local media outlet.
More than 2,000 Teslas reportedly arrive at Port Melbourne every month, but only a few of them get sold.
Experts say that the key factor behind it is high competition with cheaper Chinese electric vehicles, such as Chinese BYD.
