Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh discussed the future nuclear talks in Vienna, stating that Iran would return to Vienna only to finalise the nuclear deal and not to negotiate it, speaking to journalists in Tehran on Monday.
"If Washington's response is appropriate and in line with the points raised, we can go to Vienna as soon as possible, not for new talks, but for the finalisation of the JCPOA," Khatibzadeh explained.
Khatibzadeh also stated that the US was to blame for the halt in Vienna talks while highlighting that "the agreement is very much within reach".
The spokesperson went on to say that what was happening in Vienna was due to the approach adopted by the American side, adding that Washington was trying to tie the remaining issues to its internal affairs.
Iran has been involved in negotiations to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between member states for months. The US left the deal in 2018.
