٠٠:٠٣:٣٨Hundreds of Russian citizens voted in the country's presidential election at the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul on Sunday.
Footage shows voters queuing outside the consulate, entering the polling station, registering for the election and casting ballots. Some people were seen at the polling station with their children.
"Since 08:00 in the morning, Russian citizens here have been actively coming to the polling station to cast their votes, thinking about the future of Russia," said Andrey Buravov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul.
"The most favourable conditions have been created here. The voting process is going on in a transparent manner; there are observers and members of the press," he added.
One of the voters said that he was glad to see many people coming to cast a ballot.
"I'm glad that a lot of people came today, I'm happy to be here, that I gave my vote. I hope all the best, I wish all the best to my country," he said.
Russia's presidential election takes place over three days on March 15-17, with early voting between February 25 and March 14.
The four candidates are Leonid Slutsky of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), the Communist Party's Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov of the New People Party, and incumbent President Vladimir Putin, running as an independent candidate.
