Student protesters and counter-protesters faced off at Arizona State University's (ASU) main campus in Tempe, Arizona on Wednesday after Kyle Rittenhouse said he wished to enroll as an on campus student.

"ASU should not let him back on campus, that is just the end of the discussion, he cannot be let back on," one student said.

Protesters and students reported many non-students on campus showing their support for Rittenhouse, Donald Trump, and Arizona Governor candidate Kari Lake, a prominent figure in the election fraud conspiracy.

"I think it's embarrassing to support a murderer, honestly, I think they should be embarrassed. Most people out here are grown 40-year-old men who are protesting and acting ridiculous against college students trying to protect their campuses," Juliette, an ASU student said.

Students interviewed also noted many of the Rittenhouse defenders harassing people of colour on campus.

"The fact that all of them are on here and have been allowed to stay here for so long, just constantly harassing us when we walk by. They told my one friend he should go back to his country," one student reported.

"Honestly, I could care less about Kyle Rittenhouse coming here, my problem is these people here behind me find it respectable, find it admirable to come on a campus where it is kind of a safe place for people of colour and to chant 'fuck BLM'. That is not right," stated ASU student Samira.

Rittenhouse, who was found not-guilty of after shooting and killing two protesters and injuring another in Kenosha, Wisconsin in August 2020 was an online student at ASU.

The university has stated Rittenhouse is currently not enrolled.
