US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met on the sidelines of the G7 summit where Trump spoke to reporters about the planned Israeli-Palestinian peace deal and a possible trade deal between the US and Japan, in Biarritz on Monday.

Trump called the Israeli elections a "complicating" factor in the completion of a peace agreement but said both sides appeared willing to cut a deal. "I think they want to make a deal, the Palestinians, and I think Israel would like to make a deal too. I think people after so many years and decades, I think they're a little tired of fighting," he said.

The US president referred to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as "one of my closest friends in this world," and said he wants Japan to move car construction plants to the US.

He stated that the US has "a lot of cards [to play] with Japan" and "if [he, Trump] were to put tariffs on those cars [he]'d make so much money for this country, your head would spin. So, yeah. He's going to make the deal."

The G7 summit is wrapping up on Monday with world leaders discussing a number of global issues.
