Hundreds walked through the streets of Paris on Saturday to denounce both presidential candidates Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen ahead of the second round of the presidential election.

Protesters held signs denouncing the outcome of the first round of presidential elections, expressing dissatisfaction with the choice put ahead of them for the second round.

A similar march took place in the southern French city of Montpellier, where about 400 people gathered to denounce both presidential candidates.

Incumbent French President Emmanuel Macron and nationalist candidate Marine Le Pen are now set to face off in the runoff on April 24.

Macron topped the first round of the French presidential elections with 27.6 per cent of the vote, ahead of Le Pen’s 23.4 per cent on Sunday.
