A huge new 'lorry park' is under construction in Kent as an inland border facility in order to help deal with the expected post-Brexit queues of lorries heading for the border. Footage filmed outside the construction site in Ashford on Saturday highlights the enormity of the car park known as 'Sevington Inland Border Facility’.

The concrete eyesore has led to thousands of unhappy Brits signing a tongue-in-cheek petition that calls for the car park, described as a 'diesel-soaked Valhalla,' by the petitions creator, to be named after Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage.

The petition, which launched on Thursday afternoon, asks Kent County Council to rename the controversial new facility as ‘Nigel’s Folly’. It has thus far received strong support online with more than 17,000 signatures already.

There will be space for 1,700 lorries at the new facility, which is located next to the M20 in Ashford. The government's plan is that the Sevington Inland Border will assist in solving disruptions caused by Brexit to avoid queues on the M20.
