Hundreds of motorcyclists from all over Poland rode in a caravan to the Polish-Belarusian border in Kuznica, on Sunday, in order to show their support for the ongoing protests against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

Riders could be seen heading down roads to the border waving the former white-red-white Belarusian flag, which has become synonymous with the Belarusian opposition, with some locals coming out of their homes to cheer them on.

Close to the border, rally-goers chanted and released red and white balloons as Belarusian border police looked on.

"We want to show, completely peacefully, that when we are united, every conflict and every matter can be settled," explained one of the event's organisers Dariusz Frejnagel.

Belarus has been swept by anti-government protests following the disputed presidential election on Sunday, August 9, that saw incumbent president Alexander Lukashenko re-elected for a sixth term.

On August 19 the European Union announced plans to enact sanctions against "a substantial number of individuals responsible for violence, repression, and election fraud" in Belarus.
