Spokesperson Bjorn Grunewalder "welcomed" that the consequences of doping has been pursued by WADA, with the ban including events like the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and the Qatar World Cup in 2022.
Another spokesperson, Ulrike Demmer called for the "serious and prompt co-operation of the Russian authorities" in connection with the murder of a Georgian man in Berlin's Tiergarten park in August. "Particularly with the ongoing attorney general investigation in the background, who has taken over this case," she added.
The internet blackout during the Iranian protests were also condemned by the government. Spokesperson Maria Adebahr said Berlin had expressed "very clearly that the people must have the right to peacefully demonstrate."
On the theme of Iran, Berlin reiterated its goal of maintaining the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the so called Iran nuclear deal, following the Joint Commission meeting in Vienna on Friday.
