Stock markets in Hong Kong followed the international trend on Monday morning and surged upwards like many other markets worldwide after positive news regarding a potential COVID-19 vaccine broke.

The developers of the virus, Pfizer and BioNTech, say that they have found the first effective coronavirus vaccine that could prevent more than 90 percent of people from contracting COVID-19 based on early testing.

The vaccine has been tested on 43,500 people in six different countries and safety concerns have yet to be raised.
