Dozens of truckers departed The Hague on Sunday, as part of the 'Convoy for Freedom' protest against COVID restrictions put in place to stop the spread of the virus.
"We need to government to step down. We need all the mandates and all the rules to stop. We want to go back to our normal lives without corona passports, without the testing, without all the silly stuff," said Evy, one of the members of the protest. She added that the protest was inspired by the Canadian 'Freedom Convoy.'
The Netherlands lifted some restrictions in late January, allowing cultural venues, as well as bars, and restaurants to re-open, with vaccination passports still in place.
