Students descended on a Paris railway station on Monday to continue their protests over the government’s pension reforms.

Footage shows young people chanting, singing and banging metal pots and pans as they walked through the concourse. Police and security officers are seen holding them back and guarding the entrance to a platform.

President Emmanuel Macron signed his divisive pension changes into law, which include raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, after the country’s top constitutional court approved the measures over a week ago.

Protests have continued in cities across France since the plans were announced in January, and intensified last month when the government bypassed a vote in the National Assembly.

Macron used a televised address last week to insist the changes were needed to 'guarantee everyone’s pension', and promised a raft of new domestic policies across employment, healthcare and law and order. Labour unions have pledged to continue with strikes and demonstrations.
