Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn was seen leaving his house in London on Friday, some hours after announcing he would step down as party leader after Thursday's historic election defeat.

Footage shows Corbyn leaving his residence and getting into a vehicle while being surrounded by members of the press.

On Friday, Corbyn called the election a "disappointing night" for Labour and said he would not lead the party into any future general election after leading the party to its worst result since 1935.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservatives secured the biggest majority since the 1980s with 364 seats, with one result still to be declared, while the Labour party won 203 seats, down 42 from 2017.
