UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented the situation in Brazil amid raging Amazon fires, as he arrived in the French city of Biarritz on Saturday to take part in the G7 summit.

"We're going to do everything that we possibly can to support the Brazilians to get the fire under control," stressed Johnson.

A record number of fires have been raging through the Amazon rainforest, the majority of which is located in Brazil.

The G7 summit will start in Biarritz on Saturday and run from August 24 to August 26 and will see world leaders discuss topics including tackling global inequality, the US-China trade dispute, the Hong Kong protests and the climate crisis.
