Riot police fired tear gas on anti-government protesters and made a number of arrests as demonstrations continued in Hong Kong's tourist district of Tsim Sha Tsui on Christmas Eve.

Footage shows some of the more radical protesters smashing glass and burning boxes as well as officers trying to disperse the demonstrations.

Hong Kong has been rocked by more than six months of anti-government protests triggered by the now-withdrawn extradition bill. The rallies have since evolved into a wider movement against the government, marked by violent clashes between protesters and police.
