Supporters of far-right candidate Marine Le Pen welcomed the Leader of the National Rally party with chants and cheers in Paris on Sunday as the results of the first round of French Presidential elections pointed to her heading to the run-off elections alongside incumbent French President Emmanuel Macron.

"What will be at stake on April 24 is not only a circumstantial vote but a decision of society and even civilization," said Le Pen who slammed Macron for the 'division, injustice and chaos' he had imposed on the French people.

Macron emerged victorious in the first round of elections with almost 28 percent of the votes. If he wins the April 24 run-off, he will have repeated his 2017 victory against Le Pen.
