Christmas festivities saw no halt in anti-government protests in Hong Kong where police used pepper spray to disperse demonstrators in Mong Kok district on Wednesday.

Footage shows a large number of protesters at Mong Kok area, facing off and arguing with police officers. Security officers stopped some civilians to have them checked before letting them through.

Hong Kong has been rocked by more than six months of anti-government protests triggered by the now-withdrawn extradition bill. The rallies have since evolved into a wider movement against the government, marked by violent clashes between protesters and police.
