"It is an honour, it is a privilege, it is a pleasure to meet the rest of African women referees. It is a moment, an opportunity now to open the door to show to all women of Africa that they are capable, they can reach that stage, they can deliver what they know, what they have and they are ready for the next," she said.
The 34-year-old Salima Mukansanga has already refereed the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France, and now became the first female referee to lead an all-female officiating crew at the Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, at the Zimbabwe 2-1 Guinea match.
